“Success is understanding that you are the carrier of dreams, dreams you are responsible to fulfill.”
If there’s any quote that I wake up to and make sure that I read daily is that one. In 2014, I was reading one of my books on success that’s filled with motivational quotes. I came across this quote and it literally changed my way of thinking, daily living, and motives. What does it mean to be the carrier of dreams? It’s a reminder that there’s a purpose for your life and you’re not here on this earth just for you. There are people counting on you to follow your purpose and dreams because you may be the one to unlock theirs. It is our responsibility to help fulfill the dreams of those around us by going after ours. If there is ever a moment where I get lazy I must remind myself that this life that I’m living is not only for me; there are people waiting or watching to see me fail or succeed. Regardless of which one, I’m giving them something to look forward to and I am responsible for every word, action, and decision I make. To know that I could be carrying someone’s dream or someone’s next job opportunity is so heavy and important to me. It keeps me alert and focused so I can see those dreams come to life one day. When I think about this quote, I think of every single person that chased after their dream and are living it right now; Oprah, Tyra Banks, Misty Copeland, Steve Harvey, Kevin Hart, the Obamas, Tyler Perry and more. Due to their commitment, dedication, drive, love, and passion for what they do, they broke barriers and created goals for a new generation to add to their list. That’s what it means to be a carrier of dreams, to walk in your purpose while conquering the storms that come your way. If you can’t conquer the storms during your walk, it will be difficult to see the sunshine afterwards. When we go through a process such as this, we are building a strong foundation for the next dreamer, we are giving the next dreamer hope because we faced our storms. Remember that everything you do, do as if you’re doing it for Lord (Colossians 3:23), do it as if you have a bunch of dreamers waiting on you to unlock their dreams. Again, this life that we are living is not only to please ourselves and to see ourselves succeed. Success is pointless if you don’t share it with others. I’m not there just yet but it’s not too late to start sharing what you do have in this season you’re in.
Young woman, not only do we carry babies but we carry dreams too. Not only do we give birth to babies but we birth dreams too. If you were pregnant, you wouldn’t hold the baby inside your womb after 9 months, at some point you must get into position and push. Push and give birth to your dreams. Nurture it, take care if it, feed it, share it, give it to the Lord, and watch it grow. There is a generation that’s depending on you to push! Your push is equal to their hope. Don’t give up and always be confident. No matter what stage you are in in fulfilling your dreams and purposes; don’t stop…keep going! Don’t get tired of doing good (Galatians 6:9). God will provide you with whatever you need to keep you motivated (Matthew 7:7). If you have any questions on how I stay motivated or ways to stay motivated, leave a comment below.
